Neuro Linguistic Programming - Changing Behavior and Thinking
Richard Bandler and John Grinder developed Neuro Linguistic Programming or NLP in the 70's. They wanted to find out what made two of the successful communications experts so effective. Fritz Perls and Virginia Satir seemed to have little in common except that they got great results. Bandler and Grinder later studied hypnotherapist Milton Erickson and made the NLP model even better.
NLP Modeling to discover the patterns of excellence
NLP Modeling is the process of recreating excellence. We can model any human behavior by mastering the beliefs, the physiology and the specific thought processes (that is the strategies) that underlie the skill or behavior.
Presuppositions - the Beliefs that Guide NLP
Presuppositions in general are beliefs underlying a system. The presuppositions of NLP are beliefs that guide and have guided the development of NLP. They are not necessarily true, but produce useful results. Beliefs are usually self fulfilling. If we believe someone doesn't like us, our defensive manner can make this a reality.
